Fujitsu Explores PolaRFusion Technology for Battery-powered IoT devices

By Ken Briodagh
November 15, 2018

According to a recent announcement, Fujitsu Electronics Europe (FEEU) is working with the US based company InnoPhase to explore extreme low-power PolaRFusion radio architecture for battery-based wireless IoT applications. The radio architecture moves RF processing functionality from power-hungry and large analog circuits into efficient, low-power digital logic, which the company says will open new possibilities in the utilization of today’s WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and other popular protocol radios. The lower power consumption should enable a whole new class of battery-based IoT devices.

Immediately after the market launch of InnoPhase's first product at the beginning of 2018, the Talaria ONE ULP WiFi Radio, FEEU began evaluating the potential of WiFi being available in battery-based applications. Based on customer feedback and ideas, InnoPhase reportedly is now planning to expand the device’s feature set in a new product coming soon in 2019.

“Within our focus on Ultra-Low Power and IoT applications, the FEEU Engineering is currently testing InnoPhase’s WiFi-based technologies in combination with the products of our other Ultra-Low Power vendors. We are working directly with InnoPhase to create a foundation to fully support this new technology in future FEEU projects in Europe.” said Dr. Klaus-Peter Dyck, Manager, Marketing and Application, FEEU.

With the commitment to bring feasible PolaRFusion solutions to customers, FEEU follows its claim as a Value Added Distribution Partner. “As a global technology gateway, we not only offer our customers a wide range of products and services for IoT and related application, but also employ experts to help customers to find the solutions that best meet their individual needs. This accelerates the search for new products and services and ultimately leads to a shorter time to market.” said Axel Tripkewitz, President, FEEU.

The IoT Evolution Expo, and collocated events, IoT Evolution Health, LPWAN Expo, The Smart City Event, and IIoT Conference, will take place Jan. 29 to Feb 1 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Visit IoTEvolutionExpo.com to register now.
