Machine Intelligence Means IIoT Security is Changing: Here's How

IoT Evolution Expo 2020 is coming up fast, and we interviewed several of our speakers to get a bit of a preview of what to expect from their sessions.

Here, we spoke to one of our featured panelists, Florian Raschbichler, Head of Support at HiveMQ. At IoT Evolution Expo 2020, which is taking place February 11 to 14 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Florian will be appearing in a panel on Thursday afternoon February 13, “IIoT Security: AI, ML and Getting Beyond Identity.” Florian is recognized as one of the world’s leading experts in the field of MQTT, and has helped more than 100 customers in going from proof of concept to production in countless IoT deployments.

Here is a little preview of his thoughts:

IoT Evolution: What are some key ideas you plan to cover in your panel?

Florian Raschbichler: Speaking from experience in the real world, I want to share how companies are considering both Security and Privacy compliance concerns more seriously in recent times. Looking to the future we want to cover how edge computing capabilities in 2020 allow the use of ML and AI to increase security against cyber attacks.

IoTE: What insights do you hope attendees will take home?

FR: An understanding about the importance of security and ways to stay “ahead of the curve”.

IoTE: Can you identify a few important trends influencing your sector of the IoT which will shape the path of the industry? Why these?

FR: MQTTv5 as the up and coming standard protocol for all IoT related communication, Cloud & Edge being better integrated than ever, and OAuth coming through as the most used Authentication method.

IoTE: What are the biggest challenges facing the IoT right now? What are some strategies you recommend to overcome those challenges?

FR: Challenges include Security, Scalability, creating lasting customer value. Recommended strategies: Hire experts and listen to your customers.

IoTE: Which vertical markets have the most to gain from IoT implementation? Which are leading and which are still behind the adoption curve?

FR: Most to gain: Consumer electronics, Manufacturing

Leading: Automotive, Entertainment providers

Behind: Manufacturing 

IoTE: What sessions are you most looking forward to attending at the Expo? Why?
