The long-awaited Industrial IoT Conference kicks off tomorrow!
From February 11-13, this conference (and the whole #TECHSUPERSHOW experience, of which it is part) will host thousands of attendees at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. There’ll be can’t-miss keynote presentations, thoughtful panel discussions led by industry experts, hands-on workshops, networking activities, and a recently expanded exhibit hall filled with tech demos, entertainment and more. (The whole #TECHSUPERSHOW also features other great events like IoT Evolution Expo, the Smart City Event, Generative AI Expo, etc.)
That said, there’s some additional
IIoT news we wanted to touch on before it’s officially expo time.
So, let’s take a quick look.
Global technology company SLB has a concise M.O. — “Drive energy innovation for a balanced planet.” In order to accelerate decarbonization and innovate across the entire energy landscape (i.e. alongside professionals with leading science, engineering and digital know-how), SLB creates and deploys the systems necessary to simultaneously reduce emissions and meet crucial energy demands on its journey to net zero (and beyond).
In that vein, it’s important we talk about Neuro.
Neuro autonomous solutions combine SLB’s domain expertise with connected intelligent systems, creating a continuous feedback loop between surface and downhole. This, in SLB’s own words, “increases the efficiency, consistency, and reliability of exploration and production (E&P) while reducing human intervention and carbon footprints.” Based on the pillars of intelligent planning and execution (as well as thorough surface and downhole automation), SLB enables autonomous operations across the well life cycle, thereby improving how industries construct wells, how they sustain production, connect reservoirs, and maximize energy management and recovery.
And now, SLB has introduced Neuro autonomous geosteering, building on its autonomous directional drilling and taking operations a step further.
Here’s the long-story-short explanation: Geosteering is a technique that involves optimal placement of a wellbore (based on the results of real-time downhole geological and geophysical logging measurements, guiding the well’s path). Now, through the utilization of artificial intelligence, SLB’s Neuro geosteering can integrate and interpret complex subsurface information to autonomously guide drill bits through the most productive layer (a.k.a. “the sweet spot”) of a given reservoir.
This is big. Conventional geosteering operations involve geologists manually interpreting data to a.) identify a well target, b.) update the well plan and trajectory, and c.) communicate this to the appropriate directional driller.
With Neuro’s intelligent, closed-loop system, all these steps are done dynamically, end to end — no human intervention required. This decision cycle can take mere seconds, which obviously optimizes procedures and reduces the carbon footprint of such drilling operations.

By drilling more consistent and higher-producing wells, our customers can optimize their field development plan while reducing operational emissions from drilling over the lifetime of the asset.”
