What is the Macro Network for IoT? Learn about the System of Systems at IoT Evolution Expo 2020

By Ken Briodagh
February 13, 2020

IoT Evolution Expo 2020 is in full swing and killing it, and we interviewed several of our speakers to get a bit of a preview of what to expect from their sessions.

Here, we interviewed Mike Tackaberry of Platinum Sponsor NimbeLink, who will be taking the stage Friday to discuss the Macro Network: Intelligent Systems Design from Edge to Edge at IoT Evolution Expo 2020, which is taking place February 11 to 14 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Here is a little preview of his thoughts:

IoT Evolution: What are some key concepts oyu expect to cover during the panel?

Mike Tackaberry: Computing at the edge vs. in the platform. Cloud. How to get started to drive incremental proofs to find value in a connected solution. How and why cellular allows you to bring your own network.

IoTE: What are some ideas you hope attendees will be able to take home?

MT: The platform/cloud strategy will evolve over time. This will change the edge device capabilities in either direction, more or less complex.

  1. How will you discover the value to your connected solution.  Data, enhanced services, lower costs or what is the right combination?
  2. How benefits from the connect solution. Your organization, your customer and how should you invest to make these determinations.

IoTE: Can you identify some important industry trends changing the IoT today?

MT:

  1. Costs are coming down.  Data plans and devices.
  2. Wireless device connectivity is complex.
  3. More solutions are being offered but are they affordable?

IoTE: What about challenges facing the industry?

MT:

  1. Organizational commitment to a connected strategy
  2. Identifying the value from connected devices and who benefits.
  3. Trying to boil the ocean vs. looking for incremental proofs that can land the organizational transformation.

IoTE: What sessions are you looking forward to this week?

MT:

The Amazon and Ring Central keynotes.
