Good afternoon and pleasant October greetings, IIoT readers.
Let’s take a moment to talk about an Internet of Things solutions provider we’ve dedicated much coverage to, in recent memory (on this site and over on IoT Evolution World, as well).
The provider in question?
Digi International.
Here’s a long-story-short recap: Since 1985, Digi has pioneered wireless solutions. Before the Internet of Things became mainstream, Digi built M2M devices. Once IoT/IIoT hit the big leagues, so to speak, Digi quickly adapted to network standards as they evolved, pursuing the rigorous optimization of data communications around countless advanced protocols and emerging technologies. (e.g. RF modems to gateways, cellular routers, networking devices, embedded SOM, SBCs, etc.)
Fast-forward to 2024, and Digi has even more on offer.
In that vein, earlier this year I had the opportunity to speak at length with Ben Tucker, Digi International’s Director of Product Management for the company’s Infrastructure Management division. (Read the full interview here.) Additionally, Digi partnered with Atsign over the summer; namely, to empower Industry 4.0 deployments with a robust and secure remote access solution, thereby safeguarding critical edge infrastructure.
And today, Digi made another big announcement:
This morning, Digi International officially announced the launch of Digi 360, a subscription-based offering that supports ease-of-use, deployment visibility and optimized ROI for Digi cellular routers.
In similar words, per Digi: “Digi 360 offers comprehensive cellular solutions, including purpose-built devices, software and services, to help customers optimize their IoT investments and maximize ROI. These complete solutions are designed to simplify IoT complexity, and ease the challenges enterprises face in configuring, deploying and managing their IoT initiatives.”
In a more point-by-point manner (teased in this article’s image above), here are the components of Digi 360:
- Management via Digi RM: Digi Remote Manager (Digi RM) is an intelligent network command center; it provides centralized control, management, security and edge intelligence. Via a single, secure platform that opens the door for network health monitoring and instant alerts from across the network, Digi RM enables users to both diagnose and repair issues, reducing the need to deploy a specialized technician or roll a truck. Additional features include API access, simplified configuration, out-of-band management, scheduled automation and access to a variety of value-added services.
- Digi Cellular Devices: One point I discussed earlier this year with Ben Tucker was how Digi’s purpose-built devices have become near-synonymous with exceptional performance in even some of the most challenging environments. With Digi 360, managing Digi devices becomes even simpler — their configurability, scalability, reliability, the whole kit and kaboodle efficiency-wise.
- Expert Customer Care: Digi’s experts provide critical technical assistance; 24/7/365 expert global support within a four-hour response service level agreement (SLA) for priority case resolution, configuration and network troubleshooting, return merchandise authorization (RMA) assistance, and other feature/functionality inquiries. Per Digi, “professional services are also available for integration with third-party devices, code debugging, and more, along with a Customer Success program for mission-critical deployments.”
- Limited Lifetime Warranty: Digi 360 includes an enhanced Limited Lifetime Warranty, offering edge device protection for active subscribers for the full length of the subscription.
“Digi 360 stands as the definitive solution for secure wireless connectivity deployments,” explained Landon Reese, Vice President of Product Management at Digi International. “Bringing together software, management capabilities, state-of-the-art edge devices and expert support into a unified, comprehensive package, Digi 360 ensures our customers experience unmatched efficiency, security and reliability while enjoying significant cost savings.”
Reese commented further, describing how “Digi 360 offers so much more than connectivity; it’s a complete, secure solution that eases complexity, alleviating the challenges in configuring, deploying and managing IoT deployments. Designed to evolve with the always-in-flux IoT landscape, Digi 360 provides our customers with a future-proof investment as well as much-needed peace of mind.”
